At 04 :42 this morning Hudson FD was alerted by Columbia County 911 of a reported chimney fire at 438 East Allen St.

On arrival members found an active fire in the floor joists between the first floor and basement of a large 3 story peaked roof building.

Members from Engine 30 and Truck 32 and Rescue/Engine 27 went to work isolating the fire and checking for extension utilizing several 2.5 gallon water extinguishers.

After the truck company was able to inspect the chimney it was determined there was no fire within.

The cause was determined to be from a faulty base in the first floor fireplace which had been used earlier that night

Damage was contained to the first floor flooring and the basement ceiling.
