Knox Box Program

In early 2016, the City of Hudson Fire Department launched a new program that would allow the department access to properties within the city in the event of an emergency. The goal of the program is to reduce property damage while still allowing emergency access to structures in the event of an alarm. The "Knox Box" program has been used by over 11,000 department across the nation and is a reputable and reliable brand. The first property went "live" in early April after the department trained its members in its use.


Property owners can visit www.knoxbox.com or inquire with the fire department how to purchase a KNOX BOX for their building. The KNOX BOX is purchased directly from the company and is shipped to the property owner. The property owner, or their designee, then installs the box near a door on the building.The box is shipped opened and unlocked. No keys are shipped with the box. Once installed, the property owner will contact the fire department and schedule a time to meet with a Chief or Officer to verify the installation. The owner and the Chief/Officer will then place the keys to the building inside the KNOX BOX and the Chief/Officer will lock the KNOX BOX. The KNOX BOX is then ready for use!
